MatFlow vs TeamUp

Updated July 2026 · 4 min read

TeamUp is a generic fitness class booking platform. It does the basics well: schedules, bookings, payments, attendance. MatFlow covers the scheduling, attendance, and roster side and adds the parts a BJJ academy actually needs, like belt tracking, training logs, and a community feed.

Pricing

MatFlow starts every academy with a 30-day free trial, then $49/mo (Basic, up to 100 active members) or $99/mo (Pro, unlimited). Students never pay.

TeamUp starts at $119 per month for up to 100 customers (as of July 2026, per goteamup.com/pricing) and grows from there.

Who it is for

MatFlow is for BJJ academies that want both the back office and the student experience in one product. The community feed, the training log, and the belt bar are core product, not add-ons.

TeamUp is for fitness studios that need class booking and recurring payments, and it includes a member app. It works for yoga studios, spin classes, and bootcamps. It is not opinionated about jiu jitsu.

The biggest difference

TeamUp is a general-purpose booking platform. MatFlow is a jiu jitsu platform. If your gym only needs to take payments and run a calendar, TeamUp will do the job. If your gym wants its students engaged, ranked, and tracked the way a BJJ academy actually operates, you need software that knows what a stripe is.
